Back in November, Captain Marvel lead Brie Larson tagged Chris Hemsworth of Thor fame in a workout video which saw the actress capably wield a 16-pound sledgehammer. The clip was a clear challenge to the God of Thunder, but with this latest video, Larson seems to be eyeing the role of another MCU hero.
In the recent Instagram upload, Larson displays some prowess on the climbing wall, while the accompanying caption sees the actress name-drop a certain web-slinger who’s known for this kind of thing:
“My self tape for the role of Spider-Man?”
Imagine Peter Parker making a triumphant comeback from his Avengers: Infinity War dusting only to see that Carol Danvers has taken his job.
Larson has previously gone on record discussing the trials she had to put her body through when she assumed the role of the MCU’s most powerful hero, claiming last year that the physical strength she found in herself caused her to reconsider her own potential:
“My highest right now is 215 lbs. in deadlifts. 400 lb. hip thrusts, being able to lift weight like that really changed my perspective and understanding of myself. Going through a movie that requires so much and takes this long, I’m realizing I’m way stronger than I knew.”
Though we’re still a couple of months away from seeing Carol put all her strength to use, it’s clear that the heroine already has the fans on her side, with the film’s two main trailers each coming out to a frenzy of excitement. Better yet, it seems that Marvel Studios isn’t done bringing us new footage quite yet, with ESPN set to broadcast an “exclusive look” at the upcoming film this Monday during the College Football Playoff National Championship game.
We’ll find out if Captain Marvel can live up to the hype when the film hits theaters on March 8th, 2019. After that, you can see the original wall-crawler in action once more when Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out on July 5th.
