The game’s hero, Nathan Drake, was originally supposed to be played by Mark Wahlberg. Shortly after that was announced though, he dropped out. Then there were rumors that 300‘s Gerard Butler would be playing Drake, but nothing ever came of that. Now it seems that Nathan Fillion is the frontrunner for Uncharted‘s charismatic hero.

Gaming Squid has the full scoop, here’s what they had to say.

2 months back, we posted the information that the Gerrard Butler is the hero of the upcoming Uncharted Movie, but now we got some more information that Gerrard Butler is not the hero of the Movie it is Nathan Fillion. Nathan Fillion has the look of Nathan Drake and moreover, his voice also matches with the Nathan Drake. So, it’s a good news for the Uncharted movie fans that Nathan Fillion is selected as the hero of the Uncharted Movie.

Fillion has had some success in his two big shows Firefly and Castle and has established a strong following from both. I think Nathan Drake would be a great role for the actor. Drake is a wiseguy, Indiana Jones like character, who is on the hunt for his ancestor, Sir Nathan Drake’s lost treasure. Sounds perfect for Fillion.

Drake and Fillion not only have the same first name but they also look and sound alike. Uncharted fans would most-likely be proud with this choice and I think moviegoers everywhere would embrace it.

Neil Burger, director of The Illusionist, is currently directing and there are rumors that Bruce Campbell (Burn Notice) could be playing Drake’s friend Sully and that Alan Dale (Lost) could be nemesis Gabriel Roman.

Like we said before, this is all just rumored but let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that it’s true.
