Channel 4 News Team Takes Manhattan In New Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues Poster

After two new trailers and an onslaught of marketing ploys (including a Ben And Jerry's Scotchy Scotch Scotch ice cream flavor), a shred of uncertainty is creeping into my anticipation for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which finally hits screens this December.

After two new trailers and an onslaught of marketing ploys (including a Ben And Jerry’s Scotchy Scotch Scotch ice cream flavor), a shred of uncertainty is creeping into my anticipation for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which finally hits screens this December.

Will the sequel, as written and directed by original Anchorman helmer Adam McKay, recapture the manic, infectious energy of the first film, or is it doomed to fail? I don’t have the answer, but I’ll certainly be in line to find out.

Just in case anyone has somehow remained ignorant of the upcoming sequel, Paramount Pictures has released a massive new poster for the film today, which you can check out below.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues introduces the Channel 4 News Team (Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Steve Carell) to the cable news era of the 1980s. Based on the trailers, it looks like Ron Burgundy (Ferrell) and his team have suffered some hardships over the years. Burgundy’s marriage to co-anchor Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) appears to be on the rocks if not over, and the news team has disbanded. The opportunity to join GNN, a 24-hour news network in the Big Apple, leads the team to reunite and embark on a new series of misadventures.

The poster certainly communicates that this sequel is, in the words of the immortal Ron Burgundy himself, “kind of a big deal.” The news team stands triumphant, towering over the streets of New York City, classy as ever, the promise of a new day ahead. The trailers also focus on the sequel’s attempt to recapture the lightning-in-a-bottle magic of the original, though they’ve garnered mixed reactions from fans thus far.

Are you excited for this sequel? What do you think of this poster and footage from the trailers? Sound off in the comments section below.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues opens December 20th.
