Despite some scepticism following the first teaser trailer, early word on Star Trek Beyond has been overwhelmingly positive, While J.J. Abrams certainly didn’t skimp on action, this instalment looks even grander in terms of scale, something which is evident from an incredible gallery of hi-res images released by Paramount Pictures today.
You can see those in the gallery above, and with all the signs now pointing to Star Trek Beyond being a critical hit, it should be interesting to see how the threequel performs at the box office, especially as we’re in a summer where many expected success stories have ended up disappointing in a big way.
Star Trek Beyond features the return of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin and John Cho along with new roles for Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella and Joe Taslim. J.J. Abrams, who directed the last two films, is producing the third entry in the rebooted franchise, while Justin Lin is directing from a script by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung.
The movie is set to reach the big screen on July 22nd, just a few weeks before the Star Trek franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary. It was put on the fast track in order to meet this very special year for the beloved property, and while that’s often bad news for a movie, Star Trek Beyond is definitely looking petty promising so far. At least, if those early reactions are anything to go by.
