Solo: A Star Wars Story is fast approaching cinemas and the marketing campaign is beginning in earnest. We’ve already seen a trailer, multiple character posters and some neat merchandising – and now we have this striking new one-sheet that simply makes Alden Ehrenreich’s take on the iconic character look like the coolest thing since sliced bread.

It’s been a rough ride for the project, with its original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller being unceremoniously sacked by Lucasfilm head honcho Kathleen Kennedy after execs got cold feet after seeing the dailies. Safe pair of hands Ron Howard was quickly parachuted in and large portions of the film were reshot in order to keep its summer release date. No doubt armies of CGI gurus over at Industrial Light and Magic are beavering away over roasting hot 3D graphics workstations in order to get the pic ready for its premiere screening.

They must be pretty confident in what Ron Howard has achieved with the project, too, as it was recently announced that the film would have a glittering premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15th. That’s not a cast-iron guarantee of quality, but at least Disney and Lucasfilm aren’t trying to hide or embargo opinions of the movie ahead of its full release on May 25th.

Having said that, we still don’t know a huge amount about the plot. The official synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Story is pretty vague, promising “a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld” and that we’ll see Han meet Chewbacca and Lando for the first time. Fortunately, we’ve been promised a “final trailer” pretty soon, which should fill in a few of those blanks before the film hits theaters.
