Tony Stark appears to have spent a long time floating in an endless, empty void, which is something we can sympathize with given how long it’s taken for the Avengers: Endgame trailer to arrive. But, after weeks of false starts and the death of a former President, it finally landed just over an hour ago. If you’ve seen it (and if you haven’t, it’s literally playing right now above this text, so check it out), then you’ll know that it lived up its billing of giving us a look at where our surviving heroes have ended up after the climactic events of Infinity War.
The trailer has already and will continue to generate endless discussion for the next few weeks, so it’s fortunate that Marvel has released the following HD stills for us to pore over and theorize what they might mean for the film. Check them out below and see if you can spot any clues:
Honestly, there’s so much to talk about here, much of which will eventually generate its own discussion. For example, can we assume that Nebula and Tony Stark have commandeered the same ship in order to get back to Earth? After all, while Stark’s a genius, he doesn’t have a huge amount of experience with space travel, so Nebula should be a big help on that front. Plus, her being part cyborg could give her an interesting perspective on Stark’s suit (which seems to be disassembled). She’s seen touching it curiously, too – what could this mean?
Then there’s the gag that Thanos hasn’t just hung up his armor, but he’s using it as a scarecrow to protect his crops. That might indicate that he’s permanently abandoned his warlike lifestyle in favor of farm work, which makes us wonder if he’ll even want to fight back against the heroes when they inevitably arrive. I could go on and on (and I will in various articles to come), but it’s clear that this trailer gives us a hell of a lot to go on and Avengers: Endgame can’t get here soon enough.
