‘Chicken Run 2’ teaser reveals when ‘Dawn of the Nugget’ breaks on Netflix

If you haven't seen the original 'Chicken Run,' then stop what you're doing and give it a watch. Now!

I’ve always had a soft spot for Aardman Studios. Whether it’s Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Flushed Away, or (deep cut for all you stop motion stans out there) Creature Comforts — the British animation house can seem to do no wrong.

Now, as the studio prepares to release the long-awaited sequel to 2000’s Chicken Run, an official teaser trailer has been released to prepare us for the return of everyone’s favorite band of chickens.

Short, sweet, and totally mysterious, this trailer doesn’t give us much by way of plot. Still, it showcases the classic claymation Aardman has build its name upon, and gives us a look at two of the franchise’s most iconic characters: Rocky and Ginger.

For those unfamiliar, the original Chicken Run follows a group of chickens as they attempt to escape the egg-laying farm they find themselves on. The antics on the farm mirror those of classic prisoner of war camp films, and are rife with references and loving homages — which have been a staple of Aardman animation since the very beginning.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget picks up where the first film left off, and sees our escaped heroes now attempting to save all of chicken-kind in the face of a new evil. You know, that classic tale we’ve all heard before.

Now it looks like all that’s left to do is wait for the film’s release on Netflix December 15 and see just how much trouble Ginger and the gang can get up to. Best of… cluck! (I hate myself.)
