Though Daniel Craig is now officially locked in to star as 007 one final time in the upcoming Bond 25 from director Cary Joji Fukunaga, that hasn’t stopped the internet from debating over who should play the iconic hero next once Craig steps away from the role for good. At this point, nearly every popular actor under the sun has been linked with the part, and the latest to voice their interest is none other than Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth.
The actor was recently asked if he would consider playing James Bond and at first stated the obvious – that being that there are very few people who would turn down the job – before confirming that he’d love to take a crack at it.
When we were shooting Rush someone had said that and I thought, ‘Cool, if this is my audition tape, then great.’I don’t think you’ll ever meet anyone who doesn’t want to have a crack at James Bond. I’d love to do it.
Chris isn’t the only member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be linked with MI6’s finest, either. Idris Elba – who plays the Asgardian Heimdall – has long been a fan favourite to be Craig’s replacement, though the actor has already denied – on several occasions now – that he’s been approached. Back in 2016, it was also reported that Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, was a contender for the part, after his leading turn in spy drama The Night Manager proved he had what it takes to bring 007 to life. But as of yet, there’s been no official confirmation on that front.
As we said up above, though, Daniel Craig remains the one and only James Bond for the time being, with Bond 25 set to shoot its way into theaters on April 8th, 2020. Hemsworth, meanwhile, can be seen next reprising his role as the God of Thunder later this month in Avengers: Endgame, which will be with us on April 26th.
