Chris Pine Attached To Green Lantern Role For Warner Bros?

Long before Ryan Reynolds landed the then-coveted role of Hal Jordan for Warner Bros. standalone flick, one actor that was in contention was Star Trek Into Darkness star Chris Pine. Alas, the studio settled on the former for their ultimately disappointing rendition of Green Lantern, but with a rejuvenated line-up at their fingertips, not to mention a new solo movie pegged for 2020, it appears as though the Power Ring could well find its way to Pine.

Long before Ryan Reynolds landed the then-coveted role of Hal Jordan for Warner Bros.’ standalone flick, one actor that was in contention was Star Trek Into Darkness‘ Chris Pine. Alas, the studio settled on the former for their ultimately disappointing rendition of Green Lantern, but with a rejuvenated line-up at their fingertips, not to mention a new solo movie pegged for 2020, it appears as though the Power Ring could well find its way to Pine.

At least, that’s according to Latino Review’s Umberto Gonzalez, who believes the actor will play an integral role in DC’s cinematic universe moving forward. Taking to Instagram, he captioned a photo with the following:

“The name I keep hearing & floating around, is Chris Pine for Hal Jordan. Yes, Captain Kirk. Again, this is still just a RUMOR hence UNCONFIRMED. Been hunting this one for a while so the search is still ongoing.”

Much like Gonzalez warns, this is still very much speculation, though the fact that the Pine has been linked to the part in the past does lend credence to Warner Bros. selecting him as the final candidate. Either way, Green Lantern will have a significant role to play in the company’s shared cinematic universe, kicking things off with a cameo role in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League movie.

As for the role of Hal Jordan, we’ll just have to wait patiently until Warner Bros. is ready to formally announce anything. We’ve already trumpeted Pine’s Green Lantern potential, though reports have suggested that Tyrese Gibson would assume the role of John Stewart. What direction will the studio pursue? Time will tell.
