This week on Cinemaholics, we review Upgrade, a new sci-fi action horror flick from Leigh Whannell, one the minds behind the Saw and Insidious franchises.

It’s become a surprise hit from Blumhouse Productions, thanks largely to some stunning action scenes, provocative body horror, and some surprisingly fun sci-fi ideas, as we follow a techno-phobic mechanic whose body gets augmented, making him one part Neo from The Matrix and one part Robocop. This is definitely a B-movie you need to see to believe.

Later in the show, we do some mini reviews, starting with Adrift, a new romantic survival film starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin. We also talk about another romantic drama called Disobedience, a limited release indie starring Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz. Finally, we explore the troubling dramatic story about sexual abuse in The Tale, starring Laura Dern, which premiered at Sundance and is now streaming on HBO, and close the show out with a review of Arrested Development season 5 (Part 1), which is now streaming on Netflix.
