Creepy New Trailer For Children Of The Corn: Runaway Debuts

We've been waiting a while now for Lionsgate to pull back the lid on Children of the Corn: Runaway. After first announcing it roughly two years ago, things went quiet on the project and even despite production ending in April of 2016, it's only now that the studio is starting to kick things into gear on the promotional campaign.

We’ve been waiting a while now for Lionsgate to pull back the lid on Children of the Corn: Runaway. After first announcing it roughly two years ago, things went quiet on the project and even despite production ending in April of 2016, it’s only now that the studio is starting to kick things into gear on the promotional campaign.

Whether that’s a cause for concern or not, we’ll leave up to you, but if it’s footage from the film that you’re after, then you’re in luck, as we’ve now got a creepy new trailer for you to feast on that does a pretty good job of teasing what awaits. It’s short, but from what we can tell, Runaway will be another intense and unsettling entry into the franchise, and one that will likely please longtime fans.

For more, here’s the official synopsis:

The movie tells the story of young, pregnant Ruth, who escapes a murderous child cult in a small Midwestern town. She spends the next decade living anonymously in an attempt to spare her son the horrors that she experienced as a child. Ruth and her son end up in a small Oklahoma town, but something is following her. Now, she must confront this evil or lose her child.”

If you’re wondering when you can get your hands on the flick, we’ve got you covered there, too. Lionsgate has announced today that Runaway will be heading to Blu-ray, DVD and VOD on March 13th, and is now available to pre-order on Amazon. Aside from a single deleted scene, it’s unknown what bonus features will be included, but we expect to learn more soon.

While the long delay and suspicious radio silence is slightly concerning to us, we’re certainly willing to give this one a chance. The footage shown in the trailer promises that Children of the Corn: Runaway will deliver more than a few scares and though we’re not expecting an instant classic or anything close, this is one franchise that we’re always open to indulging in.
