Arriving hot off the back of a strong Comic-Con showing – one where Tom Hiddleston described the film as “an emotional rollercoaster” – this latest sizzle reel gingerly peaks behind the horror on display, offering fans a chance to not only hear what the leading stars have to say about the project and its jet-black tone, but also from the man behind the lens, del Toro.

Playing a young author who falls for the handsome, yet mysterious Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston), Mia Wasikowska’s protagonist Edith Cushing soon finds herself at the crux of a dark and twisted love triangle between her, Thomas and his estranged sister, Lucille (Jessica Chastain).

Despite numerous trailers and today’s featurette, there’s still a dark secret tying del Toro’s picture together that we’re yet to uncover – isn’t that the beauty of all compelling horrors, after all? – though we assume that said secrets will conjure up the ghosts of the past. Literally.

Guillermo del Toro has claimed that Crimson Peak is the most visually striking and beautiful film he’s ever crafted, we’ll be able to decide for ourselves when the gothic horror opens on October 16.

When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger, a young woman is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever. Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak. From the imagination of director Guillermo del Toro comes a supernatural mystery starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam.
