Dave Bautista Slams The Fast And The Furious, Says They’re Not Good Movies

Dave Bautista has thrown some serious shade at The Fast and The Furious franchise today, saying that they're not good movies.

Though Dave Bautista ranks alongside Dwayne Johnson and John Cena as one of the most successful wrestlers-turned actors, the Guardians of the Galaxy star believes that his career and talents are a bit different than The Fast and the Furious and Bumblebee leads.

In an interview with the Tampa Bay Times a few months back, he said that he didn’t like when people compared him to Cena or The Rock, and here’s why:

“Those guys are wrestlers who became movie stars. I’m … something else. I was a wrestler. Now, I’m an actor.”

He also explained the distinction between a serious actor and a movie star, saying that with The Rock in particular, he doesn’t find him to be a very great actor.

“Rock was, in a way, a movie star before he was even a movie star. There is something about him that’s really special. I’d never take that away from him. Would I consider him a great actor? Fuck no.”

Ouch! But it doesn’t end there, as the MCU star has now taken another shot at Dwayne Johnson. Or rather, a franchise that Johnson is heavily involved in.

Over on Twitter, Bautista replied to a fan who said he’d like to see him in a Fast and Furious spinoff. Though the actor was humbled by the support, he also threw some serious shade at the series, saying he’d “rather do good films.”

While we can see Bautista’s point here, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with what people like Dwayne Johnson and John Cena are doing with their careers. True, neither are exactly aiming for awards recognition with the roles they’re choosing, but they’re incredibly entertaining to watch on screen no matter what they do and both are beloved by moviegoers around the world.

Bautista, on the other hand, seems to be looking for more serious acting roles now that his days as Drax in the MCU are coming to an end. And while he’s certainly entitled to his own opinions, it is a shame that he wouldn’t consider doing a Fast and Furious spinoff. After all, we can’t imagine anything more electrifying than seeing Dave Bautista, Dwayne Johnson and John Cena sharing the screen in an over the top action movie.
