Guardians of the Galaxy is coming together and so far, most of the lead roles have been filled. We know that Chris Pratt will lead our galactic heroes as the fearless leader Star-Lord. Joining him will be Zoe Saldana as Gamora and Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer. Lee Pace will also be showing up in an unspecified villainous role. There aren’t too many major parts left empty but one that still needs an actor is that of the fan favorite Rocket Raccoon.
Though we haven’t heard anything official yet on who is in the running for the role, today we’re receiving word that Marvel may have their eye on none other than ex-Doctor Who star David Tennant. The rumour stems from the Marvel Cinematic Universe Facebook fanpage, so it’s far from confirmed or official. That being said, at the London premiere of Iron Man 3, director James Gunn did say that he had someone in mind for the role.
“I think there’s – here’s the thing: there are a lot of people who have a lot of ideas of who is right for Rocket Raccoon Rocket Raccoon has been slightly different over the years, in the comic books, and within my scripts he is a very, very specific guy, and I think people are going to have to wait for a few weeks before they see.”
Could this “specific guy” be David Tennant? Honestly, I could see him in the role and as a big fan of his work on Doctor Who, I’d love to see him join the cast. If he does, then there will be one major role left to fill, that of Groot. Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey were rumored for the part a while back but again, nothing official on that front either.
So, as we wait for more news on the role of Rocket Raccoon, tell us, what do you think of David Tennant joining Guardians of the Galaxy?
