Juggernaut Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 Director Teases Juggernaut’s Return At Comic-Con

Much has been made of the Deadpool movies’ success in righting one of the many wrongs of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with Deadpool 2 even giving us the pleasure of seeing the new Wade Wilson kill the much-maligned version of his character from the 2009 prequel. But the Merc with a Mouth isn’t the only popular mutant whose portrayal was botched in a previous film only for the recent Ryan Reynolds actioners to do it better.

When Juggernaut made his big screen debut in X-Men: The Last Stand, many fans were deeply disappointed by Vinnie Jones’ corny portrayal, with the character’s wince-inducing reference to an old meme (“I’m the Juggernaut, b*tch!”) remaining one of the most ridiculed moments in the franchise to date. Fortunately, Deadpool 2 managed to restore some credibility to him, and while Cain Marko may have ultimately lost his climactic fight with Colossus, he might just return in a future installment.

Speaking at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, director David Leitch hinted that the answer to the question of whether Juggernaut will ever make a comeback can be found at the end of the movie.

“I can speak to that, look closely when you buy the DVD… slow it down and look at the very last frame and it will answer your question!”

Sounds promising, then. While Ryan Reynolds’ recent statements suggest that we might not be getting a Deadpool 3 anytime soon, it seems a lot more viable that the planned X-Force movie will mark the return of Professor Xavier’s well-built brother. If so, then we could be seeing a rematch between Juggernaut and Colossus, with actor Stefan Kapičić recently recalling fond memories of his fight with the famed villain.

“For me, it was amazing… working with David and Ryan was amazing. We went to new levels with Colossus,” said Kapičić. “I fought Juggernaut. I got to say, Pick on someone your own size, which I wanted to say. I had an f-word moment, which Colossus doesn’t say.”

Whatever the future holds for Juggernaut, Colossus and Wade Wilson himself, you’ll be able to revisit Deadpool 2 when the film comes to Digital HD on August 7th, then on Blu-ray and DVD on August 21st (pre-order here).
