In the last week, for instance, the idea of Daniel Radcliffe being next in line for the title has been making the rounds online, so much so that the Harry Potter actor himself felt the need to shoot down the rumor a couple of days ago. As it turns out, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld doesn’t think much of the casting suggestion either, and has taken to Twitter with a bewildered response:

“Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine?? Zack Efron???? Y’all lost your marbles?? Jackman was an unknown!!”

To be fair, the suggestion among fans that Radcliffe could assume the role was always pretty tongue-in-cheek, with the notion stemming largely from a video released last week in which the actor joked that he was playing a version Wolverine who was shrunk in a hot wash. As for Zac Efron playing Logan, that idea seems a little more out of the blue, though popular fan artist Boss Logic has helped plant the suggestion in the minds of many of his followers with a pair of illustrations imaging how this casting might look.

In any case, with the Disney/Fox deal still a few months away from coming into effect, it’ll probably be some wait before we find out who the next Wolverine will be, though X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner mentioned earlier this month that Marvel will be looking for a younger actor for the part. Until we get some official confirmation however, you can expect the fan speculation to continue. But Liefeld may not be wrong when he implies that the next Logan just might be an actor we’ve never heard of before.
