Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Weighs In On Where Things Stand With Casting Cable

It was just yesterday that theories about Pierce Brosnan possibly taking on the role of Cable in Deadpool 2 first surfaced thanks to some very interesting photos on social media. However, they were far from confirmation of anything and as of right now, we still don't know for sure who'll play the iconic mutant. Sure, the former 007 would look pretty cool in the role, but nothing has been made official and 20th Century Fox seems intent on keeping quiet on the matter.

Asked by fans on Twitter for an update on where things currently stand with the casting, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld had this to say:

“Here’s what I know. Cable is the hottest role in Hollywood. The line goes out the door and off the lot. Believe it!”

Considering the fact that the first Deadpool was a critical and financial success (and is also generating some serious Oscar buzz), it should hardly come as a surprise that actors are desperate to join the cast of the sequel in a key role, especially as we’ll likely end up seeing the hero getting more involved in Fox’s planned X-Force movie.

Deadpool 2 still doesn’t have a release date, so it could be some time before casting news is made official. Right now though, it sounds like a lot of very big actors are vying for the role, and both Ryan Renolds and the studio are no doubt meeting with them all in order to find the best person possible to join the Merc with the Mouth in his next outing, which will also mark the big screen debut of Domino. Who they have their eye on is anyone’s guess at this stage, but feel free to drop us a comment down below letting us know which actor you’d like to see snag the role.
