Earlier today, we heard that Fox had already commissioned a script for a sequel to Deadpool, with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese back on writing duties. Director Tim Miller hasn’t signed on just yet, but the hope is that he’ll return as well, along with Ryan Reynolds, of course.
Plot details are, as you can imagine, non-existent at this point, but ComicBook.com believes that they may have discovered at least one new character who will be joining Mr. Pool for his second outing, and that’s Cable.
[zergpaid]If you’ve been following the production of Deadpool up to now, you’ll no doubt know that several rumors of Cable appearing in the X-universe have emerged, and it looks like he’ll definitely be making his presence known in the sequel since he didn’t make the cut for the first film. It’s expected that he’ll have a sizeable role in the follow-up, too, and that his part will amount to more than just a cameo.
Comic Book Movie points out that there’s actually a post-credits scene in which the Merc With a Mouth mentions plans to introduce the character, but don’t expect to see Cable in the flesh and blood. He hasn’t been cast just yet, and only gets a name drop in the scene.
Again, this isn’t all that surprising, as it was expected that he’d be introduced sooner rather than later, but it’s still exciting news and only makes the wait to see Deadpool this Friday that much tougher!
