Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is among them and though the Merc with a Mouth isn’t one of Lee’s creations (that honor goes to Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza), Stan still made a cameo in the character’s first solo movie – a token of just how intrinsically linked he’s become to the whole Marvel mythos. The appearance is one of his best, too, and Reynolds decided to remind us of it by sharing a screenshot of Lee in Deadpool on Twitter.

Suiting the R-rated, irreverent nature of the movie, Lee turned up as the overly-enthusiastic MC of the strip club where Wade Wilson’s girlfriend Vanessa worked. He later jokingly referred to his role in Deadpool as his favorite of all his Marvel cameos. Though he didn’t just appear in films from the House of Ideas. Showing no hard feelings to his long-held rivals, the most recent of Lee’s appearances came in DC’s Teen Titans GO! To The Movies.

Thankfully, we’ve got at least one more of Lee’s cameos to go, as it’s been confirmed that he shot his customary spot in Avengers 4 prior to his death. We fully expect the movie to be dedicated to the memory of the man who co-created so many of the heroes within it as well, so expect a theater full of tears.

Rest in peace, Stan Lee. Like Deadpool once said, “thanks for everything.”
