All attention may be focused on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice at the moment, given its huge weekend at the box office, but we’d be foolish to forget that the Merc with a Mouth is still tearing up theatres as well and as of today, Deadpool has hit a worldwide gross of $745.9 million, making it the highest grossing R-Rated movie worldwide. Not bad for a film that was such a huge gamble, eh?
Domestically speaking, Wade Wilson isn’t sitting on top just yet. Deadpool currently has the number 3 spot for R-Rated movies over on this side of the ocean, with $349.4 million under its belt. Sitting at number one domestically is The Passion of the Christ, with $370.7 million, and given that Deadpool is almost done its theatrical run, it likely won’t surpass that.
Still, $745.9 is an unbelievable number for a film like this, and more than guarantees that the Merc with a Mouth has many, many more big screen appearances to come. And given how much we loved Deadpool, we’re absolutely fine with that.
