Today was definitely Han Solo day! Entertainment Weekly posted some very interesting new details on not only the older version of the character that Harrison Ford will reprise in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but also our first real bit of info on Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Anthology movie that will focus on the beloved space-smuggler as a youngster.

Producer Kathleen Kennedy promised that although it would be an origin story of sorts, they weren’t going to waste a lot of time going back over and explaining all of the events of the past and forcing connections with the later movies. From what she says, it does sound like they’re committed to staying as true as possible to what made the character so popular in the first place:

“I think the key here is that we are identifying an event or events in Han Solo’s life that gives you some idea of who he is and why he is the character we have all known to love, You can imagine, given who we’ve chosen to come in and direct, it should be very entertaining and funny, Han Solo is the character inside Star Wars that everybody knows has a wit and sense of humor. So that’s what this should be.”

Another thing fans have wondered about is exactly what age this younger take on Solo will be – but anyone worried that he’d be a kid around the same age as Anakin in The Phantom Menace can rest easy, as Kennedy reveals that he’ll definitely be “in the high teens, low 20s.”

Tell us, are you looking forward to Lord and Miller’s take on the young Han Solo in their Star Wars flick? Or do you think the early life of this character should remain a mystery? Sound off below.
