Disgruntled horror fans ready to rumble after a beloved star denies involvement in an upcoming Stephen King project

Our expectations have hit an all-time low.

The cash-grabbing concept of transforming Stephen King’s bestselling novels into eye-watering adaptations is a constant maneuver performed in the hopes of crafting a worthwhile horror project. In the past, a large variety of these adaptations have hit the nail on the head and received worldwide acclaim, but it’s fair to say that all eyes are firmly planted on HBO Max’s upcoming horror series, Welcome to Derry.

The much-anticipated show will serve as a prequel series to the events which happen in both It films, wherein Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård delivered the performance of a lifetime as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. However, after Skarsgård himself revealed the shocking news that he won’t be involved in the long-awaited project, horror fans are completely irate — with the majority over on Twitter questioning if they’ll even give the show a second glance.

And if this collection of tweets is of any stark indication, then perhaps HBO Max’s prequel series won’t be the huge hit it’s expected to be:

On the bright side of this devastating news, HBO Max has yet to announce when the aforementioned series is set to start filming, or if the episodes have been completely mapped out yet. That being said, it might not be too late in regards to open arms being extended to Skarsgård, and perhaps his involvement in the show will be confirmed somewhere down the pipeline.

As for now, however, it would be a complete understatement to say that die-hard It fans are severely underwhelmed, and, honestly, holding on to pure hope at this point. Check back here for future updates as they become available.
