The MCU has had its fair share of dysfunctional families over the years, from Thor and his crazy siblings, to Peter Quill and his Celestial father, but without a doubt, the Thanos clan takes the cake, with the Mad Titan killing his daughter Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War after torturing his other adopted child Nebula. And in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, we might just be seeing all this tense history come to a head.
Nebula, in particular, has gone through one heck of a transformation over her various on screen appearances, starting off as one of Ronan the Accuser’s goons to joining the heroes in Endgame. That recent trailer even had her wearing the same white uniform as the Phase 1 Avengers, suggesting that she’s now officially one of the gang. But just in case you needed further proof of that, we’ve got just the thing.
Earlier today at their Investor Day, Disney premiered a new clip from the film and though it’s yet to make its way online, Deadline has the scoop, revealing that it showed Nebula laying out a plan for the heroes to take down Thanos.
Here’s how they describe it:
“Thanos spent a long time trying to perfect me,” says Nebula to the members of the team that survived the snap from last year’s Infinity War that killed off half the Universe.
As Chris Evans’ Captain America, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Don Cheadle’s War Machine, and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner plus the Bradley Cooper voiced Rocket Raccoon and newbie Captain Marvel, portrayed by Brie Larson listen, the clip goes on to see the adopted daughter of the Josh Brolin supervillian detail how they might be able to track down and snare Thanos in deceptively named “the garden.”
“That’s cute, Thanos has a retirement plan,” mocks Cheadle’s character, dismissing Nebula’s tale until she reveals more.
“Let’s go get this son of a bitch,” Captain America tells his fellow Avengers, Nebual, Rocket and Captain Marvel at the end of the sneak peek that had almost no action but a lot of drama.
Though it remains to be seen what exactly Nebula will be getting up to in Endgame, it’s becoming increasingly clear that her messy history with the Mad Titan will soon be coming to a head. In fact, Karen Gillan recently told Empire that Nebula will be “a character we’re all rooting for” in the film.
That’s certainly intriguing to think about, and we’ll get to see just what’s in store for the Guardians of the Galaxy star when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters later this month, on April 26th.
