The 7 Most Disturbing Movie Scenes From 2013

Anytime a year ends, we all get the same things from every website. A list of the best movies. A list of the best shows. A list of the best music. A list of the best games. The thing is, none of these damn lists are ever any different from one another. They always pour the same accolades over the same things, no matter what site you're on. Well, as I have told you before, I do things a little differently. When end of the year lists come out, I find myself always asking the same questions. They may be insane, but I still ask them, and I know I am not the only one.

First off, I am aware that this film came out in the very end of 2012, but I only saw it in 2013. That seems to be the cast for most of the people I know who saw it too, which is why it is included on this list. Come on, don’t hate.

If I told you too much about The Act of Killing it would suck some of the power out from its impact. It’s a documentary from Vice about Anwar Congo, a warlord who supposedly murdered millions of people.

The thing is, this warlord is not in jail, nor was he ever tried or convicted. Furthermore, he lives his life believing what he did was right. It is only when he sits down to watch this movie that he made of his crimes, and sees HIMSELF portrayed as one of the victims, does the impact of what he has done hit him, and it hits him so hard and in such a way that you will never forget. It is like we see this man wake up and realize he is a mass murderer, and we see just how sick and upset that makes him feel.

The Act of Killing may seem like a simple, somewhat messed up film on the surface, but when you see how this all plays out you realize that not only is this one of the most disturbing documentaries you have ever seen, it is also one of the most unforgettable.
