A couple of months ago we heard that Will Smith might be starring in a new film for 20th Century Fox titled Selling Time. Now, Deadline is reporting that the studio has found a director for their supernatural thriller in D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four).

If you haven’t been keeping up, the film follows a man (Smith) who is able to relive and change the worst day of his life but in return, he must take seven years off his life expectancy. As many have noted before, it sounds a bit like a sci-fi version of Groundhog Day and with Smith headlining, it could turn out to be a hit.

As for Caruso, he’s not the most bankable name out there but he has delivered some fairly entertaining films in the past, most notably the Shia LaBeouf thriller Eagle Eye and the Al Pacino/Matthew McConaughey starring Two for the Money, both of which I enjoyed. So, for now, I’ll remain cautiously optimistic about this one and am definitely looking forward to hearing more.

Tell us, does Selling Time sound appealing to you? Are you happy to see D.J. Caruso sign on? Let us know in the comments section below.
