Is there a ‘Titanic II’ and is it really a sequel to James Cameron’s ‘Titanic?’

Those still hung up on Rose not scooting over for Jack, here is the real horror.

Hollywood has a hard time understanding that some masterpieces don’t need to continue telling their story. And in the rare cases it does embrace this pearl of wisdom, there are others ready to insult the legends, something that was successfully achieved by Titanic II and its sequel. Yes, there is more than one.

1997’s TitanicJames Cameron’s winner of 11 Oscars — doesn’t need any introductions as everyone will forever remember the immortal love story of Jack and Rose. Thankfully, the same treatment wasn’t extended to the ones that came after it — though, one of them is experiencing a surprising surge on Prime Video at the moment.

So, does Titanic II exist?

Yes, we are not just pulling your leg, though, like you, we would happily like to pretend no one tried to cash in the original film’s everlasting fame. For what it’s worth, it was not Cameron who decided to make a “sequel” of his magnum opus.

Technically, 2010’s Titanic 2 is a “mockbuster” — basically, low-budget copies of major films — which tells the ill-fated tale of Amy and Hayden’s love story, set exactly 100 years after the events of the Titanic. They are also aboard the RMS Titanic II, which crashes into an iceberg, killing those that fail to leave the ship, including Hayden, who (no points for guessing this) sacrifices his life to save Amy.

The heavily and very badly copied film was soundly thrashed post its release. But that didn’t stop its producer, David Michael Latt, from dropping a sequel to Titanic II.

Oh, god, does Titanic II have a sequel?

Sorry to no longer keep you blissfully unaware, but yes, you live in a world where Titanic 666 — a supernatural horror flick — exists. Released on the 110th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking, the film debuted on the platform Tubi on April 15, 2022, and starred Keesha Sharp (Girlfriends) opposite Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica).

In case you belong to the optimistic “hopelessly hopeful” group, allow me to tell you that the only compliments used to describe this Titanic sequel ranged from “dull,” and “bad taste,” to being called an outright “disgrace.” But, if you still want to add this one to your own list of bad mistakes, just FYI – Tubi is a free platform.
