Dominic Cooper Wanted For Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father

UPDATE: I spoke to Dominic earlier today and while he couldn’t give me a direct answer on if the role was is, he did more or less say that he was in negotiations but nothing was for sure.

Rising star Dominic Cooper is rumoured to be joining Barry Levinson‘s Gott: In The Shadow Of My Father in the role of Gotti’s son, John Gotti Jr. Showbiz411 tells us that at the premiere for Cooper’s new film, The Devil’s Double, there was talk that the actor may be joining the upcoming gangster pic. There is no official confirmation as of yet but I wouldn’t doubt it. It would be a great role for the young actor and one that he is definitely capable of taking on.

Admittedly, I wasn’t too familiar with Mr. Cooper until last week. Then I saw The Devil’s Double and instantly became a fan. Not only is the film itself fantastic but Dominic Cooper is an absolute powerhouse and delivers an Oscar worthy performance. You can check back here next week for our review (as well as an interview with Cooper) but I’ll tell you one thing, he’s an incredibly talented young actor and his star is certainly on the rise.

The Gotti project is shaping up quite nicely. A couple notable names are attached (John Travolta, Al Pacino, Lindsay Lohan and Joe Pesci) and the story of the Gotti family is definitely an interesting one. Hopefully we’ll get confirmation on Cooper’s role shortly as I’d love to see him add another high profile credit to his already impressive resume.
