Where does it end?
Following accusations of sexual harassment against Kevin Spacey, Brett Ratner and Jeremy Piven, all this week, no less, the latest Hollywood star to come under fire is acting legend Dustin Hoffman.
Writer Anna Graham Hunter alleges that in 1985, when she was 17-years-old, the Rain Man star groped her on the set of TV movie Death of a Salesman and spoke “inappropriately” with her.
“He asked me to give him a foot massage my first day on set; I did,” Hunter said. “He was openly flirtatious, he grabbed my ass, he talked about sex to me and in front of me. One morning I went to his dressing room to take his breakfast order; he looked at me and grinned, taking his time. Then he said, ‘I’ll have a hard-boiled egg … and a soft-boiled clitoris.’ His entourage burst out laughing. I left, speechless. Then I went to the bathroom and cried.”
When Hunter went to her supervisor, she was told to “sacrifice” her values for the sake of the movie. Writing in her diary at the time, she detailed one particular incident as so:
“Today, when I was walking Dustin to his limo, he felt my ass four times. I hit him each time, hard, and told him he was a dirty old man.”
Hoffman has already responded to the writer’s claims, offering up the following apology:
“I have the utmost respect for women and feel terrible that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation. I am sorry. It is not reflective of who I am.”
As with most of these other allegations, it remains to be seen what will come of this (aside from a tarnished reputation, of course), but we’ll be sure to let you know should anything else regarding the Dustin Hoffman situation arise.
