For the longest time, Independence Day and 2012 director Roland Emmerich has been considered as the king of cinematic destruction in Hollywood, knocking down monument after monument on-screen with his own bombastic style. However, there’s one summer blockbuster set to give the filmmaker a run for his money: Brad Peyton’s San Andreas.

Reuniting with his Journey 2: The Mysterious Island star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the disaster pic will see the actor take point as Ray Gaines on a one-man rescue mission to recover his daughter Blake (played by True Detective‘s Alexandra Daddario). From the debut trailer released a couple of months back, the sense of scale is unquestionable, with California rocked by a monumental earthquake appropriately dubbed “The Big One.”

Now, with the film’s May release date fast approaching, Johnson has unveiled a brand new poster for San Andreas, which sees his special ops firefighter drop down into the crumbling chaos. Starring alongside the WWE-turned-movie star are Carla Gugino as his estranged wife, Daddario, Colton Haynes,
Morgan Griffin and Art Parkinson.

Dwayne Johnson will go toe-to-toe with Mother Nature when San Andreas rumbles into theaters on May 29, 2015.

San-Andreas

After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started. The action thriller “San Andreas,” from New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures, reunites Dwayne Johnson with director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn, following their collaboration on the global hit “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”
