Eddie Redmayne‘s star is really on the rise.

The adorable Tony award-winning actor, who we’ll see co-starring in My Week With Marilyn and Hick (alongside Blake Lively,) has been cast in Tom Hooper‘s film version of the wildly popular musical, Les Miserables.

Hooper swept the Oscars last year with The King’s Speech, and he may be in for a repeat performance in 2012 just based on Les Mis’ cast. Redmayne, who will probably play Marius, a student revolutionary, joins Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert and Anne Hathaway as Fantine.

Les Miserables is set to be released Dec. 7, 2012.

What do you think of Redmayne’s casting? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
