By now, it’s very clear that most if not all of the characters who turned to dust at the climax of Avengers: Infinity War will be back for next year’s Avengers 4, and Scarlet Witch certainly makes that list of likely returners. Nonetheless, the spoiler-sensitive Disney is keeping its cast tight-lipped on such matters, and while actor Dave Bautista was willing to break this code of silence, it seems that Elizabeth Olsen is happy to play by the studio’s rules.
In a video for Wired, the actress was tasked with responding to some of the most frequently Googled questions about her, and it’s at the 2:07 mark that she gets to the inevitable query: “Is Elizabeth Olsen in Avengers 4?”
She responds to this question with a coy smile and a wordless shrug, but honestly, it would be the far greater surprise at this point to learn that she isn’t in the Infinity War sequel. For one thing, planned films like Spider-Man: Far From Home ensure that at least some of the dusted characters will be finding a way back into the world of the living.
What’s more, Olsen herself was recently reported to be in Atlanta for Avengers 4 reshoots, and though there’s no guarantee that the planned Scarlet Witch TV show won’t be set at an earlier point in the MCU timeline, the project’s development does confirm that the character has at least some form of a future in the franchise.
Ultimately, while Avengers 4 will no doubt pack plenty of surprises when it hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019, the return of Elizabeth Olsen will not be one of them, but really, who’d want her out of the series anyway?
