Elizabeth Olsen Says There Are No Plans For A Scarlet Witch Movie

Fans are hoping that the long-awaited Captain Marvel will open the doors for many more female-led MCU movies to come once it arrives in 2019. We've heard a lot about the fact that Scarlet Johansson might finally get a Black Widow standalone in Phase Four, but what other heroines could helm their own vehicles in the future? One of the biggest contenders is Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch. But what does Elizabeth Olsen think of the idea?

While talking to People, Olsen admitted that there are no plans to develop a Scarlet Witch movie over at Marvel Studios, and it’s not something that the actress herself is particularly calling for.

“We are at ground zero. It’s definitely not something I’m pushing. I don’t know if it’s something they’re going to push either.”

Though a film isn’t something Olsen has discussed, the actress did go on to talk about how her and co-star Paul Bettany have joked about a Netflix sitcom focusing on the odd couple dynamic between Wanda and her android boyfriend Vision.

“I joke about having a domestic television show on Netflix or something. It would just be like house event, where Scarlet Witch goes bananas. That’s what we joke about but I don’t think either of those things are happening.”

Wanda Maximoff first made her MCU debut back in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier before she was properly introduced in the following year’s Avengers: Age of UltronCivil War then continued her story, as will the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.

From what we know, we can expect some romantic drama for the character in the event movie, as Scarlet Witch and Vision’s feelings for each other come to a head – just as the android’s at risk from Thanos and his Black Order. Whether he’ll end up meeting his maker or not remains to be seen, but we’ll soon find out, as Infinity War touches down on April 27th.
