From taming Harry and Ron to taming the Beast, Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame has secured a role in director Guillermo Del Toro‘s rendition of Beauty and the Beast. The new adaptation will be produced by Denise di Novi who also produced Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
After years of playing Hermione Grainger in the Potter series, Watson feels ready to tackle different roles. Other than the Harry Potter series, the 21 year old Watson has been the voice of Princess Pea in The Tale of Despereaux, but that’s about it for feature films. Watson also has roles in two movies releasing in the near future. My Week With Marilyn is set to release on November 4th and The Perks of Being a Wallflower releases next year.
Guillermo del Toro currently has his hands full filming the monster flick Pacific Rim and there is no word on when this one will get underway. As of now, he will only be producing Beauty and the Beast though, not directing.
