Empire has released new photos of Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara as Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. David Fincher‘s adaptation of Stieg Larsson‘s best selling novel made the cover of this month’s Empire Magazine and the photos are definitely worth a look if you’re excited for the upcoming film.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is one of the year’s most anticipated films and these photos depict Mara and Craig in scenes from the film, with sharp and edgy quotations from the pair.

The pictures, along with some exciting trailers just keep adding to the enormous amount of the buzz that surrounds this film, which is said to be a serious Oscar contender come awards season. I personally can’t wait for it, being eager to see how Fincher handles the adaptation and just what he has in store for us.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo stars Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård and Robin Wright. It will be released on December 21st, 2011.
