Even Frank Miller Liked Ben Affleck’s Take On The Dark Knight In Batman V Superman

Comic book writer and artist Frank Miller is well known for being outspoken, frequently criticizing the stories and movies featuring characters he’s created (earlier this year, he even said that the Elektra in Marvel’s Daredevil TV series isn’t the real deal). It turns out, however, that he actually approves of Ben Affleck’s take on The Dark Knight in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Considering the fact that Snyder’s film is heavily influenced by The Dark Knight Returns, it wouldn’t have been too shocking to see Miller take umbrage with how the director interpreted that tale in his movie. Talking at a panel at MegaCon 2016 in Orlando this weekend though, he had nothing but good things to say.

“I was rooting for Batman. I liked it, he’s a good actor. I mean, he’s obviously very, very close to this material and plays it with great affection.”

Snyder previously adapted Miller’s 300, but despite the relationship those two have, it doesn’t sound as if the comic book creator is just being polite here. He actually refused to weigh in on the mixed response to the movie and chose to only focus on Affleck’s Batman, the one character in the film who escaped criticism in even the most brutal of reviews.

Miller went on to say that Warner Bros. and the actor (who is co-writing The Batman with Geoff Johns before directing it) are more than welcome to reach out to him for his input, but with Affleck recently revealing that they’re working on an original story, they may not need his help. Either way, at least we now know Batfleck has one more fan.
