For those who tune into HBO’s Game of Thrones, Kit Harington is likely a familiar face and name. He plays Jon Snow on the hit fantasy drama and has amazed quite the loyal following. If you prefer to get your entertainment fix on the silver screen, however, you likely haven’t been acquainted properly with this relative newcomer. Fortunately, this week you’ll have an opportunity to remedy that as the actor is bringing his disaster epic, Pompeii, to theatres.

As the title infers, the Paul W.S. Anderson-directed film is set against the backdrop of the infamous eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, which completely obliterated the town of Pompeii. Harington stars as a slave-turned-gladiator that fights to save his true love (Emily Browning), who has been “betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator,” as his city slowly turns to ashes.

Last week, Sony held a press day for Pompeii in Los Angeles and while there, we sat down for an exclusive video interview with both Harington and Browning, as well as two Pompeii experts, to discuss the film. They spoke about how important it was to keep things historically accurate, what drew them to the project, their familiarity with the story before signing on and more.

Check it all out in our video interview below and be sure to catch Pompeii when it hits theatres this Friday!
