Sure enough, it feels like the more we learn about Eddie Brock’s first solo outing, the more substance there seems to be to the speculation. And, naturally, fans have been offering their own artistic renderings of what popular supervillain Cletus Cassidy, aka Carnage, could look like in the live-action flesh, including this latest edit which uses Tom Hardy’s Venom as the template for its grisly design.

It must be stressed that the red nemesis of Spider-Man and Venom still hasn’t been officially confirmed for the pic, but Sony surely recognizes the demand from the fanbase. In fact, the predominant rumor right now is that the role will be played by Oscar winner Woody Harrelson.

The Solo: A Star Wars Story and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri actor has been cast in what remains an unnamed part for the upcoming film and has yet to appear in any set pics. Harrelson himself has even said that he’ll only have a small role in Venom but that potential sequels may see his character grow in prominence.

The psychotic star of Natural Born Killers would be a solid choice to play the murderous symbiote, too, especially given the success of Harrison and director Ruben Fleischer’s last collaboration, the 2009 horror-comedy Zombieland. Plus, after the backlash that Venom’s fleeting appearance in Spider-Man 3 got, Sony have hopefully come to understand the importance of giving these beloved characters the screen time and development that they warrant.

In any case, we can expect many of our questions to be answered and plenty of new rumors to be spawned in their place when Venom hits cinemas on October 5th, 2019.
