Fight Choreographer For Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Teases A Showdown Between Two Title Heroes

For all of the hype and excitement surrounding Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, one of the most pressing questions raised by fans at this early stage has been how the director will portray the inevitable clash between the two titular heroes. Sure, we all know that pitting The Caped Crusader against the Last Son of Krypton is the ultimate exercise in brains vs. brawn, but how exactly will Snyder capture such a monumental battle?

For all of the hype and excitement surrounding Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, one of the most pressing questions raised by fans at this early stage has been how the director will portray the inevitable clash between the two titular heroes. Sure, we all know that pitting The Caped Crusader against the Last Son of Krypton is the ultimate exercise in brains vs. brawn, but how exactly will Snyder capture such a monumental battle?

Well, thanks to fight choreographer Guillermo Grispo — who has collaborated with the director across 300, Sucker Punch and Man of Steel — we now have new details on the brawl in question.

There’s a thought that Batman has no chance, that the other [Superman] will squash him like a bug. But when you see the movie, and how it all comes out, there’s a very intelligent explanation as to why they would have a firsthand confrontation though it seems to be totally to Batman’s disadvantage.

Interestingly, Grispo went on to differentiate the tone and style of Snyder’s action scenes relative to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, and teased fans that Dawn of Justice will get up close and personal with Batman’s fight choreography in a way that only Snyder could, apparently.

Now Batman it’s going to fight the way I’ve always dreamed seeing him fight… he’s a character so prepared in martial arts that you can do a lot of things with him, but filmmakers usually don’t go all the way with it. Even in the last Nolan movies the action scenes aren’t very good from a technical, martial arts point of view to things like choreography, filming, bad camera movements…

But hey, don’t get me wrong, Nolan is great, my hats off to him. He makes fascinating stories, but I think that he did not pay too much attention to the fights. Those are the kind of details that Zack, being so physical himself, loves preparing. I think there’s going to be a big difference when you see these Batman fights in comparison to the previous ones.

Two titans of popular culture will go toe to toe on the silver screen when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on March 25, 2016.
