Today, Lionsgate has released the final poster for their upcoming sci-fi film, Ender’s Game. It features our titular hero front and centre with the simple tagline “This Is Not A Game.” Simple, yet effective.

The Gavin Hood-directed adaptation stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Viola Davis, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Harrison Ford. That’s a pretty impressive line-up and judging by the trailers that we’ve seen so far, I think that fans of the Orson Scott Card novel are in for a treat with this one.

Admittedly, YA novel adaptations haven’t been doing too well lately but Ender’s Game is a sci-fi action/adventure and is nothing like The Host or Beautiful Creatures, two recent YA adaptations which bombed hard. The film will also appeal to a completely different audience and most importantly, it actually looks pretty damn good. I’ll be the first to say that this is one of my most anticipated titles of the Fall.

Ender’s Game will hit theatres on November 1st, 2013. Check out the poster and plot summary below and let us know what you think in the comments.

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
