Now that the Caped Crusader of Gotham City has a new face, everyone's wondering who will get the opportunity to portray his trusted butler. Some are speculating that a legend like Pierce Brosnan will get to take on the role, while we've also heard reports that Warner Bros. is considering lesser-known talents like Jared Harris. But now we have one more name to add to the list, as our sources say that there's another name fans should be watching out for to potentially play Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman: Charles Dance.

But now we have one more name to add to the list, as our sources – the same ones who revealed that Pattinson was locked in as the Dark Knight before any other outlet confirmed it – say that there’s another name fans should be watching out for to potentially play Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman: Charles Dance.

The 72-year-old actor is probably most known for repulsing audiences as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, for which he’s earned a great deal of critical acclaim, but the popular show is just one of the many credits that he has to his name. His impressive filmography spans decades and encompasses virtually every genre. One needs only to glance at some of his work to see how versatile of a presence he is onscreen.

Over the course of his storied career, the British performer has portrayed Guy Perron in The Jewel in the Crown, Sardo Numspa in The Golden Child, Jonathan Clemens in Alien 3, Benedict in Last Action Hero, the Master Vampire in Dracula Untold, Lord Havelock Vetinari in Going Postal, Alastair Denniston in the Academy Award-winning flick The Imitation Game, Emperor Emhyr var Emreis in the popular video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Alan Jonah in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and many, many more.

Dance is said to be on Warner Bros.’ wish list to play Alfred, along with Harris, which means that a formal offer may not’ve been made yet. Either actor would be a welcome addition to the cast, though, which already boasts the talent of Robert Pattinson in the titular role. Coincidentally, all three of these actors are from England, and though the studio may wind up with going someone else in the end, at least for the moment, Dance and Harris are two of the names they’re considering for Alfred in The Batman.
