Gods Of Egypt Trailer Is Full Of Fantastical Fun

On the heels of that batch of character posters, the first trailer for Alex Proyas' (The Crow, Wicked City, Knowing) mythological adventure flick, Gods Of Egypt, has been released. This one looks like it might be fun, and it's definitely not taking itself particularly seriously with its colourful array of costumes and larger than life (literally) characters - but while watching one cant help but be reminded of a certain Clash of the Titans remake from a few years back., and that didn't turn out very well at all.

This one looks like it might be fun, and it’s definitely not taking itself particularly seriously with its colourful array of costumes and larger than life (literally) characters – but while watching the footage, one cant help but be reminded of a certain Clash of the Titans remake from a few years back, and that didn’t turn out very well at all.

Still, there’s an impressive cast to look forward to: Game Of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays the noble God of Horus, who has his eyes torn out and is banished by the evil Set (Gerard Butler). With Set planning to plunge the mortal world into endless darkness (or something), Bek (Brenton Thwaites) undertakes a mission to stop him, after recruits Horus to his cause. We also have the likes of Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Elodie Yung (Daredevil) in supporting roles.

Gods Of Egypt is set for release on February 26, 2016. You can check out the official synopsis below and the first trailer above. Once you’ve done so, be sure to let us know what you think.

Magic, monsters, gods and madness reign throughout the palaces and pyramids of the Nile River Valley in this action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt. With the survival of mankind hanging in the balance, an unexpected hero takes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. With only a handful of heroic rebels opposing Set’s savage rule, Bek (Brenton Thwaites), a bold and defiant mortal, enlists the aid of powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against the evil overlord. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen take them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the spectacular final confrontation.
