Two hot Hollywood projects have landed writers today. First up is Gareth EdwardsGodzilla, which will be written by David Goyer. The second is the upcoming Evil Dead remake, which is starting to pick up a ton of steam. The writing gig on that film will go to Diablo Cody.

Deadline brings us the Goyer news, which is actually quite exciting. Admittedly, he’s a bit hit or miss but he has done Nolan’s Batman trilogy so some of his previous duds (Jumper) can be excused. He’s also penning the upcoming Man Of Steel.

It not known yet what direction the film will take but the studio has said that they intend to make the film in the “most authentic manner possible.” With Gareth Edwards behind the camera, I have faith in this one. He showed some true promise with Monsters and I’m pumped to see him taking on another creature flick.

And then there is Diablo Cody. Perhaps most well known for penning Juno, the young writer has been signed to write The Evil Dead remake. To be more exact, she’s rewriting the script, the one that Federico Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues originally penned. Juno may have been a worthy effort but Cody followed that up with Jennifer’s Body, which was god awful.

Both projects have me interested and while neither Cody or Goyer are completely innocent with their writing credits, both of them have produced some excellent material in the past. Hopefully they’ll bring their A-game to their respective projects and craft something worthy and fan pleasing.
