Villains Take Center Stage In New Guardians Of The Galaxy Posters

We've already seen a few trailers, a handful of TV spots, and character posters for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, which is now officially two weeks away from hitting cinemas. Earlier this summer we saw posters for the Guardians themselves, but this week seems to be all about the supporting cast. First came posters for Nova Prime (Glenn Close), Rhomann Dey (John C. Reilly) and Yondu (Michael Rooker), and today the villains take center stage.

We’ve seen our fair share of trailers, TV spots, and character posters for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which is now officially two weeks away from hitting cinemas. Earlier this summer we saw posters for the Guardians themselves, but this week seems to be all about the supporting cast. First came posters for Nova Prime, Rhomann Dey, and Yondu, and today the villains took center stage.

The Guardians will be chased across the galaxy by several formidable foes, including blue-skinned baddies Ronan the Accuser (played by The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug‘s Lee Pace) and deadly assassin Nebula (former Doctor Who companion Karen Gillen), along with Korath the Pursuer (Gladiator alum Djimon Hounsou).

Each of the villains get their own character poster, courtesy of IGN, though their elusive boss Thanos is still unfortunately absent. Thanos may be the “Big Bad” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the one pulling the strings in Guardians, but chances are we won’t see him in any of the marketing material. General audiences are going to have a hard enough time keeping track of the film’s wacky characters, from the talking raccoon and tree man to blue and green-skinned assassins, so throwing a giant purple guy like Thanos into the mix would likely be sensory overload.

Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1st, 2014. It stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, and Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot. They’re joined by Pace, Hounsou, and Gillen, as well as Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Michael Rooker, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin as the voice of Thanos.
