Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Adorns Total Film Cover; International Trailer Crams In Plenty Of New Footage

Star-Lord adorns the latest cover of Total Film while there's also an international Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer that crams in some new footage.

If you thought the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 marketing push was a little excessive before, now that the one-month countdown has officially begun, Marvel’s promotional campaign is about to tip into overdrive.

After Empire Magazine gathered Star-Lord and Co. for a cover shoot, James Gunn’s ragtag crew has now uprooted for Total Film – or more specifically, Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill – and you’ll be able to find that cover image in question, along with a brand new international trailer, down below. As if that wasn’t enough, the outlet has also rolled out the exclusive subscribers cover, which essentially takes the dynamite Japanese poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and places Baby Groot front and center, the little rascal. He’s adorably clueless, and when James Gunn was quizzed about his smallest Guardian, the writer-director was confident that Groot will prove to be a scene-stealer when the Marvel sequel opens in a few weeks’ time.

Circling back to that new trailer, though, this one comes to us via Marvel’s German YouTube channel (hat tip to CBM). Even if you don’t know a word of the language, there’s plenty of new footage to enjoy in this particular promo, as Star-Lord and the gang confront Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) and the Sovereign people, an alien race of genetically advanced beings that look set to play a crucial role in James Gunn’s follow-up. And that’s before you factor in the troubled father-son dynamic between Quill and his father, Ego, not to mention Sylvester Stallone’s mystery character. Is the former Italian Stallion about to assume the role of Starhawk? A rumor unearthed just yesterday certainly added fuel to the fire.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 makes a beeline for U.S. theaters on May 5th.
