Blumhouse Productions and David Gordon Green’s Halloween is shaping up to be a worthy tribute to John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic. We’ve already gotten our peepers on the awesome first trailer and heard all about the lengths they’re going to to capture the same vibe of the original (including a cool-as-hell sounding one-shot kill sequence).
Now, we’ve got confirmation that the film isn’t going to skimp on the gore. At least, not if this genuinely disgusting and gross prop and action figure are anything to go by. As you can see in the gallery below, this all but confirms that Michael’s due to score one of his most gruesome kills yet, mutilating the head of one of his victims into what appears to be a bloody jack o’lantern.
It’s gross, it’s nightmarish and, on a technical level, it’s a bit of gore worthy of Stan Winston. Whoever this poor guy is, he looks like he’s pissed off Michael more than the usual screaming teenager does. I’m guessing it’s a cop of some kind, but who knows? The lesson to be learned here is don’t screw with the hulking psychopathic serial killer known for being basically unstoppable. Oh well, live and learn, right?
In all seriousness, my hopes are really high for Halloween at the moment, and the filmmakers are doing everything right to hype up the movie. They’ve appealed to cinephiles by teasing that aforementioned bravura single-take scene, classic horror fans by delivering the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and sated even the most bloodthirsty gorehounds with this kickass new prop.
Seriously, October 19th can’t come quickly enough and as soon as we’ve got more goods to share, we’ll be sure to let you know.
