Harley Quinn’s Birds Of Prey Costume Contains A Small Batman Reference

To briefly recap, Margot Robbie kicked off things by revealing a photo of her new Harley Quinn costume on Instagram, making it appear as though the Clown Princess of Crime is ready for a night out at “da club.” And if that weren’t enough, a teaser trailer featuring her supporting cast swiftly followed. Perhaps there’ll be more to come soon enough, but in any case, the floodgates should really open this summer at San Diego Comic-Con.

For now, though, we’re going to point out a subtle detail that you may have missed on the aforementioned social media photograph. If you were to take a closer look, you’ll find that Harley is wearing a bone-shaped dog tag which reads “Bruce.” Suffice it to say, this could get theories swirling.

On the one hand, it could hint at Ms. Quinn knowing Batman’s true identity of Bruce Wayne. But on the other, she may have some odd, comical fixation on the richest guy in Gotham City. Come to think of it, she could have a crush on him if indeed influence had been pulled from the Harley Quinn Valentine’s Day Special published a few years back.

One other possibility is that the filmmakers are giving a polite nod to Harley’s co-creator, Bruce Timm, but that’ll go right over the Average Joe’s head. Then again, we’re talking about a character who’s known to break the fourth wall at times, so anything’s possible.

Perhaps we’ll learn more once Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) opens in theaters on February 7th, 2020.
