Harley Quinn Suicide Squad

Here’s Your First Look At Harley Quinn’s New Birds Of Prey Costume

Despite the commercial success of Suicide Squad, many saw the critically panned feature as a bit of a false start for Harley Quinn’s run in the DCEU, though this collective disappointment had less to do with Margot Robbie’s performance than with the film as a whole. You can therefore expect a lot of fans to be pinning their hopes on Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) as the work that finally delivers the big screen Clown Princess of Crime that they’ve been waiting for.

Though we’ve still got a while to wait before Cathy Yan’s flick comes our way, Robbie has now taken to Instagram to offer an early glimpse at the new style she’ll be rocking for her second DCEU outing. As you can see, the actress is sporting a shorter haircut and a fresh outfit that, if anything, is a little louder than her previous look. In the caption, Robbie poses one question to her followers: “Miss me?”

Her appearance isn’t the only thing about Harley that looks set to change in her next movie. In case the film’s extended title didn’t give it away, writer Christina Hodson has already stated her intentions to have the character break from her ties with Jared Leto’s Joker, telling Variety earlier this month that the antihero will “stand on her own and be her own thing.”

Of course, the upcoming flick will also see Harley teaming up with a load of new friends, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya in a story that sees the gang go up against Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask. We’ll find out how the new team fares when Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7th, 2020.
