Here’s Who Nick Fury And Maria Hill Were Going To See In Avengers: Infinity War’s Post-Credits Scene

The devastating Snap sequence at the end of Avengers: Infinity War saw most of our favorite superheroes collapse into piles of dust in front of their traumatized friends. Just as we were reeling from that, we were then walloped with a credits scene in which Nick Fury and Maria Hill are driving through a city when cars and helicopters begin crashing around them. As Fury himself collapses into dust, he sends out a last-minute cry for help to Captain Marvel. But who were the pair on their way to see on this trip?

Redditor Freezer_face informs us that it was Cameron Klein. This leads to the next question: who the hell is Cameron Klein? Well, he’s a former S.H.I.E.L.D. employee introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, who was willing to put his life on the line in order to prevent HYDRA launching the destructive helicarriers. He also participated in the rescue operation following the clash in Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he was in charge of launching lifeboats to save the populace. In the post-credits sequence, Fury tells Klein to meet them in Wakanda, which might indicate that he was planning a similar operation to the one conducted in Sokovia.

So, what does all this mean? Well, the author of the post thinks that the deliberate reference to this obscure MCU character is a hint that he’s set to play a big role in Avengers: Endgame. The thinking is that he was introduced in a Russo Brothers movie in a heroic moment and purposefully keeping his character arc going across the MCU is a tease that he’s going to be key in the fight against Thanos. I’m a bit skeptical of this line of thinking, though. My bet is that the Russo Brothers needed Fury and Hill to be on the way to see somebody and went to their Bible of MCU characters and figured Klein would be the best fit.

Whatever the case, it’s a neat example of how hard the directors are working to try and keep the increasingly sprawling MCU tied together, with their attention to detail second to none. And that’s got to bode well for Avengers: Endgame.
