Important Thor Character Confirmed To Return In Avengers: Endgame

Though the speculation and hearsay around Avengers: Endgame is currently an overwhelming mess of contradicting and unconfirmed claims, we can feel pretty confident in saying by now that the Avengers: Infinity War sequel will see the return of quite a few deceased figures from previous Marvel movies, be it dusted victims of the Decimation or characters who met their end before the universe-changing event.

What’s more, if a new report from Revenge of the Fans is anything to go by, then it seems we’ll have one more familiar name to add to Endgame’s heavily populated cast list. According to the outlet, Rene Russo is on board to reprise her role as Queen Frigga of Asgard from the first two Thor movies. As you may recall, the character was killed off in the events of 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, but given her important connections to both the God of Thunder and the late Loki, you can see why the Russo Brothers might at least want to give her a cameo in the Phase 3 finale, be it through flashback, time travel, or a vision in the vein of Odin’s climactic appearance in Thor: Ragnarok.

In any case, Thor’s mother is one of several characters from older MCU installments who look set for a comeback in the upcoming film. Tessa Thompson, for instance, is pretty much confirmed to be reprising her role as Valkyrie from Ragnarok, while executive producer Michael Grillo heavily implied last year that Tilda Swinton will return as the Ancient One from Doctor Strange.

We’ll find out who else will be in attendance for this era-closing adventure when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
