‘It would be an honor’: A ‘Fantastic Four’ front-runner opens up on those casting rumors

Should we be reading into it?

The smart money would be on Marvel Studios announcing the cast for its Fantastic Four reboot at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, and it can’t come soon enough if we’re being honest.

Ever since the project was initially announced with Spider-Man director Jon Watts at the helm, the internet has been inundated with rumors touting dozens upon dozens of high-profile stars for one of the four titular roles. However, the other side of that coin is that if you hear the same thing often enough then there might be a shred of truth to it, which by default established Vanessa Kirby as one of the front-runners a long time ago.

The Mission: Impossible and Hobbs & Shaw veteran is no stranger to ass-kicking action epics, while she’s no slouch in the dramatic department, either. When questioned head-on by ComicBook during the promotional rounds for the upcoming first part of Dead Reckoning, all Kirby would say is that “it would be an honor.”

Not exactly a confirmation or denial, but being so open about it is sure to stoke the fires of speculation regardless. For what it’s worth, it would be difficult to deny that Kirby would make for an excellent Sue Storm, but the fact the rumor mill previously touted Mila Kunis of all people as a top contender for The Thing does admittedly indicate that all Fantastic Four scuttlebutt should be taken with a sizeable pinch of salt for the time being.

Hopefully those answers arrive sooner rather than later, because the casting carousel has long since gotten exhausting.
